Bear Labradoodle Young Male in Springfield, Missouri

My story
Friends, please meet the handsome Bear! From Bear's foster mom - He’s stubborn, independent, territorial, but also very sweet, smart, and energetic. Definitely a block head. I really believe he was taught to play very roughly as a pup and his owners established no control or boundaries with him. As a result, you have to establish firm boundaries, or he’ll take over. You can’t man handle him. He would be a perfect dog for someone who has experience with stubborn and assertive breeds like GSD’s or Mali’s.Bear entered the rescue as an owner surrender February 2022. His previous owners had no idea how to raise and train a large, energetic, and assertive dog like Bear.

As a result, he has had to undergo extensive training (with a formal board and train program and amazing new foster) to undo learned behavior to include being territorial and rouge in play.

But he is truly succeeding!Bear's nature is to be assertive until he knows he can trust you and that you will not let him dominate the home.

He is learning that treats are really nice and is responding now to treat training.Bear's future family will need to establish control and boundaries from day one or he will take full advantage.

If the boundaries are set and maintained, Bear will be loving and enjoyable addition.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bear, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
